Permanently Lower Your Energy Bills With Grid-Tied Solar Power System

A grid-tied system is the first step to energy independence. Though it’s still tied to the main electrical grid, your home will use solar power during the day. At night, it will draw electricity from the grid for power.

Owners of grid-tied systems report dramatically lower energy bills, and during the summer months when the sun is always shining you may qualify for credits from your electricity provider.

If you’re interested in solar power, contact East Texas Solar today to speak with a representative and learn more about your options.

About Grid-Tied Solar Power

Unlike fully off-grid solar power, a grid-tied system is still connected to the energy grid. You also still have an account with an electricity provider.

During the day, your solar power system will power your entire home. Any excess energy generated by the system will be “returned” to the energy provider via the energy grid. Your energy company will credit you for this returned energy

At night, your home will draw power from the electrical grid. Your home will behave like a normal home without a solar power system. You’ll pay for this energy as normal.

You can expect to enjoy lower energy bills because:

  • Your home doesn’t use electricity off the grid, which saves you money 12 hours a day
  • Any excess electricity your home generates is credited to your account, in effect “paying” for the energy you use at night.

The Benefits of a Grid-Tied System

  • Lower Initial Costs

A grid-tied solar system is one of the simplest systems we can install. This means that it’s also one of the most affordable.

It doesn’t require the specialized equipment that an off-grid solar system does. It also doesn’t require batteries, which increases the cost of the system overall.

  • Versatile Energy Sources

Most people like grid-tied systems because they’re versatile. If it’s a cloudy day, you can still draw power from the grid.

On sunny days, your solar power system will produce excess energy which can help defray the costs of the electricity you use at night.

  • Net Metering

If your solar power system is tied to the grid, any excess energy your home generates is “sold” to your energy provider.

This results in a credit to your account that will offset the costs of the electricity you use at night or on cloudy days.

  • Renewable Energy

Your grid-tied system will lower your carbon footprint and free you from relying on fossil fuels for your electricity.
