How is My Home Powered at Night?

Your home is powered overnight in one of two ways:

Energy Stored in Batteries

During the day, excess power is stored in a backup battery, which your house can use overnight to keep your home heated and cooled. This way, you don’t have to rely on the grid, even when the sun isn’t shining.

Electricity from the Power Grid

East Texas Solar offers on-grid systems both with and without battery backups. If you don’t have a battery backup, your system will pull energy from the grid overnight.

This may not be more costly, depending on your energy usage. Since any excess energy you generate gets sold to the grid, you can use the energy credited to your account to effectively offset your overnight usage.

Do Solar Panels Increase My Home’s Value?

They absolutely do. You can recoup your investment in your solar panels both in energy savings and home value increases over the long term.

The Solar Energy Industries Association named Texas the second best solar market in the country.

The National Renewable Energy Laboratory has found that your home value increases by $20 for every $1 saved on your utility bill, which means an increased market value for your home.

Homes with solar panels can sell for as much as $15,000 more than a home didn’t install them.

What Maintenance is Required for Solar Panels?

Solar panels are a fairly low maintenance investment. You’ll want to give them a minor cleaning from time to time to keep them working their best, but that’s almost all you’ll need to do.

It’s worthwhile to have a professional inspection on your solar panels every year or two, just to make sure everything is working optimally.

Of course, if you have any maintenance issues, you’re covered under East Texas Solar’s 30-year guarantee.
